Basalt is an eruptive igneous rock, rich in magnesium and iron. Due to its high hardness and resistance, it is one of the most used stones for covering walls and sidewalks..
Basalt is also on the surfaces of the Moon, of Mars and Venus, just like in some meteorites.
The predominant color of this stone is gray., may vary with yellow, Brown, graphite and some rust details.
In this model fillet, the coating has a height of 5 centimeters and length with varying sizes. With thicknesses ranging from 1 a 3,5 centimeters, this variation when installed on walls gives the impression of a 3D coating, high and low relief.
The placement of the embossing and embossing will depend on two things: thickness and mortar. at the time of placement, your boulder will separate the "thinner" boulders from the "thickest" boulders.
Conform or purchased model, it will place a thinner stone next to a thick one., and so on. Not using stones of the same thickness side by side. This will make the 3D effect much more evident., making the placement much prettier.
*Heads up: Each batch has differences in color and thickness.
at the time of installation of your basalt stone, it is important to use all the stones that arrive at your work. Do not select the colors and sizes! This will bring a great loss of stone, bringing a much bigger break.
Obs.: If you want to select the stones together with your mason, it is important to add a much larger break than already recommended., above your footage.
Recommended break: 10% above the total footage.
The basalt stone is extremely resistant, face non-slip and low absorption compared to other types of coatings.
Due to its low degree of absorption, is a low maintenance stone, messing much less than a more porous stone.
Basalt can be used in different environments, internal or external without worries.
In addition to being widely used in floors because of its high durability, you can coat wet areas like bathroom, toilets and waterfall. Warm areas like barbecue or fireplace.
Also in washrooms, offices, bedrooms, islands, gourmet areas, walls.
And we can't forget the FLAT. It is a non-slip face product because of its rough texture., and besides being resistant, can be used on ramps and garages, because it can handle car tickets.
A maintenance of basalt is low compared to other coatings.
For outdoor areas we recommend the use of a waterproofing agent if you want to protect it from dirt and stains. But be careful!
The recommended waterproofing agent for basalt is oil-based. We do not recommend the use of other waterproofing agents, as it creates a film on the stone and does not penetrate, like this peeling with time and getting whitish, maintenance will be much higher.
For waterproofing you can use the Oleofugent. O Oleofugante will protect your stone, enhance color but not shine.
